Improving Nebraska and its Natural Resources One Acre at a Time!
Jim
Prusa ~ Maple Creek PF
The Maple Creek PF chapter was formed in 1987 and is the 3rd oldest chapter in the state. Jim has been an active committee member since the chapter was formed and has served as chapter President for 14 years since 1992.
The chapter has spent over $213,533 on 1,029 habitat projects (13,047 total acres) and 7 Youth Mentor Hunt events (96 boys and girls) since 1987.
The chapter was one of the first in the state to obtain a no-till grass drill in 1998 and the drill now has over 3,500 acres on it. The drill is also rented, calibrated, repaired and maintained through the family busy at Prusa Welding in Howells.
The chapter supports a number of statewide habitat programs including Corners For Wildlife, CRP-MAP, Focus On Pheasants, State Habitat Raffle and the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP).
The chapter works with local landowners to promote better wildlife habitat through improved CRP grass mixtures, offering incentives to upgrade CRP, assisting in controlled burns, providing free food plots seed, offering the use of their no-till grass drill and promoting enrollment in conservation programs.
Jim’s wife Marla and their two children, Danielle and Brian, reside in Howells, NE and are all strong supporters of PF.
