Hunting season is once again upon us. And Pheasants Forever would like to encourage every hunter to ask permission before you hunt on private land. It isn’t just the right thing to do… it is the law. Nebraska is well over 95 percent privately owned, so more than likely if you hunt pheasants or quail you are going to be hunting on private land at some point or another. The relationship between landowners and hunters is extremely important to foster. Asking for permission before hunting on private land is vitally important to keeping this relationship strong. Once we get permission to hunt, we all need to remember to treat the property with respect. Closing gates behind you, not littering, and not making ruts on field roads will make the landowner more apt to give you and the hunter that comes behind you permission. It is the job of all hunters to act responsibly. Whether you and I like it or not, we are all representing every hunter. Please remember to ask permission.
