Pheasants Forever Goes to the Fair

If you live in Butler County and you are planning on going to the County Fair this week.  Be sure to stop by the Pheasants Forever booth underneath the Grand Stand.  A PF Wildlife Biologist will be working the booth in the evening Wednesday thru Saturday and will be available to answer all of your habitat and wildlife questions.

“Butler County doesn’t currently have a Pheasants Forever chapter operating in the county” according to Keith Brus, PF Regional Wildlife Biologist.  “There is a great deal of opportunity to improve habitat in Butler County.  But, without an active PF chapter the community won’t be able to fully take advantage of many of those opportunities” Brus continued.  Pheasants Forever’s unique chapter system allows local PF chapters to decide how 100% of the money they raise at their banquet is spent.  Pheasants Forever and its quail division Quail Forever are the only conservation organizations that allow local control of funds raised locally.  This system empowers chapters to have an impact on their area’s natural resources.  Since 1986, Nebraska PF & QF chapters have created, improved, or maintained over 1.8 million acres of habitat in Nebraska.

In addition to wildlife habitat improvement, youth education is a focus of many PF chapters.  Every year PF and QF chapters host over 50 Youth Mentor Hunts.  These events are designed to introduce youth who have an interest in hunting but have limited opportunity to learn about and enjoy pheasants and quail hunting.  PF and QF chapter have introduced almost 1000 Nebraska boys and girls to the great sport of upland bird hunting.  These  kids probably wouldn’t have ever been able to hunt pheasants without the involvement of a local PF or QF chapter.

Drop by the Pheasants Forever Booth at the Butler County Fair.  A PF Biologist will be happy to discuss your habitat questions and will be able to discuss how you can assist PF getting a local chapter started in Butler County.
