Youth Hunting Opportunities

Baxter Wildlife Scholarship Fund

On Monday, February 5, 2007, a true champion for wildlife and youth hunting passed away. Bill Baxter, long-time friend of PF, NGPC biologist for 35 years and champion of past Farm Bill debates passed away after a long battle with cancer.  Please consider making a donation to the Baxter Wildlife Scholarship Fund. Your investment in the education and future of a wildlife student will help produce the next champion for wildlife.  If they are half as successful as Bill, thats a very small investment to make in the future of wildlife and wildlife habitat.

To contribute to the Baxter Wildlife Scholarship Fund and to help improve the future of wildlife, please send you donation to:

Youth Mentored Hunting on the Baxter Family Farm is available through Pheasants Forever.  2009-2010 available hunting dates include Saturday's and Sunday's following the conclusion of deer season.  Contact the State Office at 308-754-5339 for available hunting dates.

  • Hunting is limited to two (2) youth per weekend and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Youth must be accompanied by a mentor.  Mentors are not allowed to carry a gun or hunt.
  • While hunting on the property, parking is limited to designated areas.  Parking areas are designated on the aerial photos that you receive with your hunting permission slip.  Do not park on the road or drive into the fields.
  • Youth must have in their possession a signed permission slip for the date in question while hunting on the property.
  • Youth must sign a liability waiver prior to hunting on the property and this should be on file with Pheasants Forever.
  • All hunting parties are asked to complete a brief follow-up survey after their hunt is completed.  Follow-up survey is part of the package you will receive when hunting permission is obtained.
  • Please do not clean birds at the property.  We ask that you transport your birds to your home for cleaning and proper disposal.
  • Please pick up your empty shotgun shells and any trash that you see on the property.
