Tom & Tim Allen
Ponca Creek PF
April - 2009
 | | The Ponca Creek chapter in Boyd County was formed in 2005. Tom and Tim were the original founders of the chapter, and have been serving as the chapter's President and Treasurer since the chapter's inception. Since forming in 2005, the Ponca Creek Chapter of Pheasants Forever has conducted 4 Youth Mentor Hunt events for over 40 kids in the Boyd County Area. Tom and Tim's passion for passing on the hunting heritage is evident in their contributions to the chapter's annual Youth Mentor Hunt. The hunt is held on their property in Boyd County each year, and both Tom and Tim donate materials to insure a memorable day for each participant. Since 2005, the Ponca Creek Ringnecks chapter has spent over $16,840 on 100 habitat projects (749 total acres). In 2008, the chapter spent over $8,000 and worked on projects that benefited over 280 acres. The chapter also purchased a brand new no-till grass drill in 2008. The drill will be available for landowners in Boyd County to use on their grass plantings and food plots.

Tom and Tim's chapter financially supports a number of state-wide and national habitat programs that benefit all individuals who enjoy the outdoors. Habitat programs include: The Lake Wanahoo Project, Bill Baxter Scholarship Fund, Legislative Action Fund, and the State Habitat Raffle. These programs benefit landowners, outdoor enthusiast and wildlife alike each year and would not be possible without the chapter's support!
Pound for Pound, the Ponca Creek Ringnecks chapter is one of the strongest chapters in the state. Boyd County has a population of only 2,185 people. The chapter conducts their banquet in the town of Bristow that has a pupulation of only 79 people, yet they are able to pack 130+ people into their social hall each year to raise money for Pheasants Forever. This kind of support in a small community doesn't come without a great deall of effort from its committee members. While the chapter's success is certainly a team effort, Tom and Tim have carried a large load of making their chapter success possible
Tom and Tim reside in Crofton with their families who also help support the Ponca Creek Ringnecks chapter. Tom is a high school computer teacher in Crofton, and he also coaches varsity football and basketball. Tim works in Yankton, South Dakota as a Food Administrator for the Federal Prison Camp. On top of all that, Tom and Tim own their own construction business that they run during the summer months. Tom and Tim are certainly a great example of hard working PF volunteers who are also invlolved in many other things, yet they still find the time to make a big difference for conservation in Boyd County.
