This native primrose can be found in dry to moist soils, particularly disturbed sandy or gravelly sites; woodland edge, floodplains, roadsides, field margins.  Only a few flowers open each afternoon and stay open until the next morning.  The flowers are pollinated by moths at night and bees in the morning.
