Rich Peters

 Sherman County PF

December - 2007

The Sherman County chapter in Loup City formed in 2001.  Rich was one of the original founders of the chapter and is currently serving as the chapters Treasurer.

Rich was instrumental in helping coordinate the Focus on Pheasants project on Sherman County Reservoir.  This program upgrades habitat on Sherman Reservoir by disking and inter-seeding legumes and forbs.  Since the beginning of this project, the local chapter has helped upgrade over 650 acres on Sherman Reservoir.

Since forming in 2001, the Sherman County Chapter of Pheasants Forever has conducted 2 Youth Mentor Hunt events for 31 kids in Sherman County.

Sherman County PF has also spent $92,324 on 149 habitat projects (6440 acres) since their inception in 2001.

With the help of the Nebraska Environmental Trust, Rich helped his chapter coordinate the purchase of a native warm-season grass drill in 2006.  Since the purchase of the drill, the chapter has helped create over 400 acres of habitat in Sherman County!

Richs chapter supports a number of state-wide habitat programs including Corners For Wildlife, CRP-MAP,  Focus on Pheasants, and the State Habitat Raffle.

In his spare time, Rich enjoys hunting and fishing as well as flying around Sherman County in his ultra-light air craft.

Rich resides in Loup City and has recently retired from Sherman County Bank after 30 dedicated years of service.  Rich spends an incredible amount of time working on all things related to Pheasants Forever.  His time and dedication to the chapter in Loup City are second to none.
