The following illustrates how Nebraska's CRP fields change over time. In the beginning, there are lots of forbes and weeds, creating the diversity necessary for pheasants. Grasses such as brome begin to take over the field, eventually crowding out the forbes and weeds. In the end, there is only grass which doesn't have the diversity necessary to support upland game.
