The wildlife watering hole is based on a design by wildlife biologists in the 1950s to expand the range of desert quail in the southwest. By supplying a stable and available water source, quail populations were able to expand into new habitat.
Landowners may be eligible to increase their CRP Environmental Benefits Index (EBI) score by installing a Guzzler on their land; if water is deemed to be a limiting factor on their land. The use of a wildlife watering hole guzzler will allow you to offer a stable water source throughout the entire year for deer, pheasants, quail, sonng birds and small mammals. This guzzler was designed by wildlife professionals to not only provide wildlife benefits, but also to comply with USDA requirements for wildlife enhancement structures on conervation program contracts.
