The Pheasants and Quail Forever "Hero of the Month" recognizes an individual, group or business that has demonstrated long-time support and dedication to the PF and QF mission. As a grass-roots organization, the foundation of Pheasants and Quail Forever is built on volunteers and donors. Without the passion, dedication, time and financial support of these "Hero's", we wouldn't be "The Habitat Organization".
Jeff Boilesen
Loup River PF
June - 2010
The Loup River chapter of Pheasants Forever in Valley County was formed in 1988. Jeff currently serves as the chapter President and has been serving as the chapter’s President since 2007. Before becoming the chapter president, Jeff served as a chapter volunteer helping conduct the annual banquet and Youth Mentor Hunts for several years.
Since forming in 1988, the Loup River chapter of Pheasants Forever has conducted 13 Youth Mentor Hunt events for almost 300 kids in the Valley County Area. On average, the Loup River chapter spends over $80 per youth that attends their Youth Mentor Hunt each year.
The Loup River chapter has spent over $310,000 on 1,596 habitat projects (33,101 total acres) since its inception. In 2009, the chapter spent $21,377 and worked on projects that benefited over 3,000 acres.
In 2010, the Loup River chapter received the Nebraska PF state award for Best Ratio of Net/Gross Dollars Generated at their annual banquet in 2009. This award recognized them as the most efficient chapter in the state of Nebraska in 2009.
Jeff’s chapter financially supports a number of state-wide and national habitat programs that benefit wildlife, landowners and outdoorsman throughout Nebraska. These habitat programs include: Habitat Share Program, Reload NE, Legislative Action Fund, CRP-MAP, Corners For Wildlife, and the State Youth Mentor Hunt Raffle. These programs match their locally raised dollars to put more habitat on the ground throughout Nebraska.
Jeff is a native of Ord where he lives with his wife Dorothy of 20 years. Jeff enjoys spending time with his children Steve and Melinda Rowse and Mike and Cindy Beach. He also enjoys introducing his grandchildren Brooke, Colton, Dillon, and Lillie to a number of outdoor activities. Jeff is part owner of three Napa stores located in Ord, St. Paul and Columbus. Jeff hobbies include hunting, fishing, fly fishing, trapping, bow hunting, cooking, camping, and photography.
The success of the Loup River chapter is certainly a team effort, but Jeff’s leadership qualities make the Loup River PF chapter an extremely efficient habitat team! Jeff’s leadership skills and long time dedication to the organization more than qualify him as a PF hero of the month!
